About Jackie Schickler

Cambridge Counselling Centre provides a confidential therapy service to both individuals and couples. It was founded in 2009, when Jackie relocated to Cambridge with a vision to establish an independent therapy centre, dedicated to emotional growth, integrity and building better personal relationships.

Jackie is a warm, dynamic, interactive counsellor offering a safe place for clients to grow and to heal. With more than seventeen years professional experience as an integrative counsellor…

Jackie works with a wide range of needs. Some of the issues with which I have worked successfully include:

  • Couples Counselling
  • Addictions
  • Emotional Difficulties
  • Family Problems
  • Relationships
  • Loss of sense of self
  • Work difficulties
  • Stress and anxiety

I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists), a member of the Institute of Reality Therapy and the Tavistock Alumni. I have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Couple and Individual Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy, a Diploma in Addictions Counselling and an Advanced Diploma in Group Work (WPF). I also have several continuing professional development Certificates from the Tavistock Institute, in Understanding Trauma, Working with Disruptive Adolescents, and specialist training in Anorexia, Bulimia and Eating Disorders.

After 10 years in London, working in residential rehabs and as a visiting clinician for Tavistock Relationships, I have since been in private practice in Cambridge for a further 10 years. Prior to that I lived and worked in New York City for 14 years and understand the pressures and vicissitudes of life in the world of business.

Typical clients come to improve their lives in many different areas, including relationships of all kinds; overcoming addictions; mid-life issues; end-of-life issues; learning to cope better with any of life’s difficulties, such as illness, finding meaning in life, transitions and decision making.

I can work with you individually, as a couple, a family, or in a group. Respect, shared responsibility and safety are essential components to be found in our time together.
